THE DAD'S GUIDE

Adventures by Disney:

see the world, never alone

Guided group trips to Italy, Japan, Costa Rica, national parks and beyond — with two Disney-trained guides handling every ticket, transfer, and restaurant. For a single dad, it's the difference between "someday" and actually taking your kids to see the world.

Why it works with one adult

You're never the only adult

Two trained guides plus a group of other families. Someone always has eyes on the kids during activities — and other kids to befriend yours.

Zero logistics abroad

Foreign trains, tips, tickets, language barriers — all handled. You experience Rome with your kids instead of navigating it at them.

Built for kids, not tourists

Pasta-making instead of three-hour museum tours. "Junior Adventurer" activities keep kids engaged while you actually enjoy the place.

WHERE WE STAY

The hotels are handled — that's the point

Adventures by Disney is guided group travel, and the hotels are one of the biggest reasons it works for solo dads: hand-picked four- and five-star properties, pre-vetted for families, and you never lift a suitcase between them. Here's what that actually means on the ground.

ZERO HOTEL HOMEWORK

Hand-picked, family-vetted stays

Every property on an ABD itinerary was chosen for location and family-friendliness before you ever saw the trip — central enough to walk out the door into the destination, vetted enough that you're not triple-checking reviews at midnight. You just show up; the room is ready and the kids' beds are sorted.

✓ Four- and five-star properties on most itineraries

✓ Central locations — no commuting to the sights

✓ Family room setups arranged in advance

✓ No research rabbit holes before booking

THE LUGGAGE MAGIC

Your bags move without you

On multi-city itineraries, your luggage leaves your room at one hotel and appears in your room at the next. When you're the only adult wrangling passports, snacks, and small humans through a travel day, not also dragging three suitcases is the difference between an adventure and a slog.

✓ Bags transfer hotel-to-hotel automatically

✓ Group transport pre-arranged, tickets in hand

✓ Check-in handled while the group explores

✓ One adult, zero baggage-cart juggling

A SECOND ADULT, FINALLY

Guides who take the night shift

Two Adventure Guides travel with every group, and they're the closest thing to a co-parent a solo trip offers: they know your kids' names by hour one, run Junior Adventurer activities all trip, and on select nights host kids-only dinners — while you get a real meal and adult conversation.

✓ Two guides with every group, the whole trip

✓ Junior Adventurer activities built into each day

✓ Kids' nights out = dad's night off

✓ Other families for your kids to buddy up with

If a guided trip sounds like this year's big swing, tell me where your crew dreams of going — Italy, Costa Rica, Japan, and a dozen more — and I'll match the itinerary, hotels included, to your kids' ages.

My non-negotiable dad tips

1

Start with a domestic itinerary. Yellowstone or a national parks trip is the perfect first adventure — all the guided magic, none of the jet lag.

2

Watch the minimum-age fine print. Every itinerary has a minimum and a "suggested" age — the suggested one is the honest one. I'll match trips to your youngest.

3

Solo travelers are normal here. Single parents are a core ABD audience — you won't be the odd one out at dinner. Some departures waive the single supplement; I track those.

4

Add two buffer days before the trip starts. International flights with kids need slack. Arrive early, adjust to the time zone, start the adventure human.

Budget straight talk

This is the splurge tier: figure $4,000–$9,000+ for a dad + one or two kids depending on destination, before flights. What you're actually buying:

•  Nearly everything included: hotels, most meals, activities, transfers, tips

•  Experiences you can't book yourself (after-hours access, private guides)

•  Domestic itineraries and shorter "Escapes" bring the entry price way down

Prices are ballparks — your call gets you real numbers for your dates.
